We finally made the characterization of the 2,4 GHz low phase noise VCO that was pending. The surprise was good. When measurements agree with simulation, it is always a good surprise :). It is not meant to be?
Briefly, we reached a phase noise of -108 dBc/Hz @100 kHz, a 7% tuning range and a power consumption of 11 mW. In short, this VCO presents a FOM of -186 dBc/Hz @100 kHz, results very close to the state of the art.
